Information: On Tuesday, August 11th, 2009, 11:49am, the Green Lake County #911 Emergency Center received a call concerning an individual being pulled from the waters of Big Green Lake. The victim was reportedly not breathing. The location of the incident was reported to be on the South shore, at Horners Landing, North of Horner Rd., in the Township of Green Lake. Emergency First Responders arrived on scene at approxmiately 11:56am followed by law enforcement. The victim was now breathing on his own and was transported to Ripon Medical Center, then transferred to Theda Clark Regional Hospital. An investigation into the matter revealed that Keith Ludjack, Douglas St., Ripon, and Ronald Otto, E. Jackson St., Ripon, had just removed their boat from the landing at Horner Rd.. Ludjack and Otto observed that a lone boater was also going to pull out. Ludjack and Otto removed their boat and pulled out of the way of the other boater. After a brief amount of time Ludjack and Otto observed the victim, Carleton Krueger, age 66, Hall St., Ripon, physically in the water and struggling at a steep drop off. Ludjack and Otto immediately responded to assist Krueger and found him face down in the water and not breathing. Otto entered the water and pulled Krueger to the landing using a fishing net. At the landing CPR was started, 911 called, and a Christopher Bruce, Spring Lake Rd., Markesan, assisted along with a lake resident, Nancy Butkus Henderson of Horner Rd., Markesan. It is suspected that Krueger was attempting to dock his boat and slipped off of the peir and entered the water. Kruger is expected to survive the incident. Units responding to the incident were the Green Lake/Brooklyn First Responders, Ripon Ambulance, and the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office.
